My commute.

Tama River, Kanagawa side. I ride across the bridge in the background.
I've been commuting by bike for a couple weeks now. It took some exploring and wandering to realize that I have a pretty sweet commute. I hit a couple of short steep hills, zigzag thru some old residential areas, cross a big bridge, hit some dirt roads and ride by numerous awesome bars and restaurants.  Its a challenge to make it to work on time.

Giant housing complex. Over first short hill.
My commute is about 12 miles round trip. I took some pics of stuff on the route but I don:t feel they really reflect the experience very well. Wish I planned it a little better.

Typical old house. Not too many of these left in the city anymore.

Shrines like these are everywhere.

Start of dirt section.
Finding dirt on the route was an incredible surprise. Huge game changer. Never even dreamt it. This section is about a third way into the route, heading towards Tama River. It really helped me realize that although this is part of my old neighborhood, I've still got a ton of exploring to do.
Bridge over Tama River. Crappy photo, great views to the right and left.
Using this bridge was also a huge deal. Everyone drives on this bridge but rarely walk or ride their bikes over it. Part of the reason I missed it too. It takes me away from the city center to the left of the picture and dumps me into a nice residential neighborhood.

Snapshot at random intersection.
After I get off the bridge, I continue thru some shopping center type streets and make my way to where I work. As you can see, there are people everywhere.

Almost home.
I hope to continue talking about riding my bike in Pajan. So far I'm really digging the riding but having a difficult time gathering my thoughts and blogging about it. The experience is so much better than what my words are expressing so far. More to come.
